Citation: At approximately 1245 hours, SPHV and CSI found the following noncompliance: [newline][newline]On a stand in the back of the live hold area, there was a stack of boxes containing wax blocks. The wax is used to remove the feathers from the ducks and is food contact. The wax blocks in the bottom box were found stored in an insanitary condition, with the corner of the bottom box ripped open and the plastic covering the wax blocks also torn, exposing the wax blocks. The box itself had brown stains and was wet throughout. U.S. Reject Tag #B39794900 was applied to the box. plant manager, was then notified. Upon further inspection, SPHV saw that the exposed wax blocks from the box had small black particles on the sides of the wax and larger pieces of black material on the underside of the bottom wax block. The regulatory control action was removed after sanitary conditions were restored.

Regulation:

416.13(c) Each official establishment shall monitor daily the implementation of the procedures in the Sanitation SOP’s.

416.4(d) Product must be protected from adulteration during processing, handling, storage, loading, and unloading at and during transportation from official establishments.
